Day 1: from Heaven

Finally got to bed around 1am after packing and rather large night on the tiles with Scott and Emily. Total naughtiness of course, more like a farewell party!

Slept from 2-6.

Excellent eggs benedict in the Qantas FC lounge. Incredibly, I scored a spa appointment, opted for the neck and shoulder massage. Big tick Qantas, best spa treatment I’ve had there. Remember Una for next time!!

The inflight Japanese set menu was amazeballs, but the CSM insisted I needed sake. I rarely drink when flying these days, but I was an obedient passenger and took the sake, scratch that AFD. Today was supposed to be the start of a quick two-day detox after a huge weekend (IYKYK). Fail.

The cabin crew were excellent, they even busted hydralyte from the first aid kit for the dehydrated passenger in 2A.

I had popped the last “San Sebastian” gummy before boarding, it was still effective despite its age, so I was astral travelling an hour into the flight. Woo hoo. Listened to Spotify for hours, then watched an excellent doco on Billy Joel. Caught up on concierge requests for Osaka and other correspondence, booked a groovy jazz club in Osaka for Saturday night with Paddy Southey.

No wifi after we left mainland Australia. Bliss.

Wifi back an hour south of Tokyo. Perfect.

On approach saw Fuji-san for the first time in five visits. Took my last regular gummy upon landing, no more of that nonsense till I’m back home. Happy days.

Grey Goose over clear ice in the hotel bar ahead of midnight soak at the rooftop onsen. Time to nude up, eek!
